The local news had a story about a family discovering a camel spider in their home last night. Ugh! I had no idea that these things can be found in this area. Although they don't get as big as the ones in the Iraqi desert, those can get as big as a dinner plate, ours only grow to about the size of an adult's hand. But they still run fast, can jump, and they make a whistling sound. Although they are not poisonous or dangerous to humans, I still would not want to find one hiding in my closet. Or worse yet, one of them jumping and whistling or chasing me out of my closet!
