Dia De Los Muertos
Today, Mexico celebrates The Day of the Dead. A tradition where families remember and honor the dead by creating small altars dedicated to one or more persons. The altars are set up at home and usually contain pictures or items that had special meaning to them or their favorite food. They are decorated with colorful flowers and decorative skulls and skeletons. Some families go to the cemetery and set up the altars there and spruce up the gravesite. They will spend the day there as a family remembering their loved one in life and death. If you can put aside the macabre, you can see how special and touching this day really is.
